Steve Allen left a comment for Max Lye
Thanks for the comments Max.  I have been thinking about a fly-away to Dundee but wasn't sure about the airstrip, so your Dad's efforts are reassuring.  By the way it was me that proposed the Wright Flight event, not…

Max Lye commented on Steve Allen's blog post 'Wright Brothers Commemoration Flight 17 December'
Sounds great Mark. I'm free on the Saturday that you have scheduled this event. With regard to the Flight Plan itself. I have no issues with it. Just a word of thought that perhaps in future you should look at landing at Dundee Beach. My Dad…

Most of us fly with a small, uncertified GPS.  It is likely to be an aviation-specific device with maps.  If yours is like this it has two kinds of maps - a topgraphic map showing land and sea, roads, rivers and towns.  Overlayed on this is the Jeppesen aviation mapping showing controlled airspace boundaries, Prohibited, Restricted and Danger areas as well as aerodromes and nav aids.  The Jeppesen database is updated each 28 days!   It is likely that the Jeppensen database in your GPS was out…See More

CHRISTMAS PARTY Saturday 26th at 5:30pm

The Christmas Party will be at MKT on Saturday from 5:30pm.  Santa will arrive by air and do his usual lolly drop all over the runway.  He will give out gifts for the kids (supplied by the parents, gift wrapped and labelled with each child's name) followed by a meal prepared in-house.  Come and have fun at the TEFC clubhouse, bring your kids, their gifts and just enjoy the evening.See More

No flying Thursday afternoon 17 November

The AIP Sup for the visit of the President of the United States is fairly complex, but put simply, don't think about flying on Thursday afternoon.  All aircraft operating within a 90 mile radius of Darwin must comply with the AIP Sup.  There will be two Temporary Restricted Areas (TRA), one of 11NM radius of Darwin airport within which there will be no GA or RA flying except for emergency, medical, etc.  The second TRA extends to 90NM radius.  This takes in Batchelor and Coomalie to the south,…See More
